Despite Duolingo’s popularity keeping users motivated is a struggle. Learners get caught up in daily chores and distractions resulting in them falling out of the habit of doing their lessons. We found that the average person spends 130 hours a year in the supermarket. So what better place for Duolingo to relight its user's motivation?

Introducing duomart: a language supermarket that will literally leave you speechless. By replacing the product packaging with one written in different foreign languages, shoppers will be travelling the world whether they’re ready or not. A surprising reminder of why they downloaded Duolingo in the first place: to communicate better when travelling.

This concept won a Wood Pencil at the 2022 D&AD New Blood Awards.
