Ink Carts – Animated Festival Promo
I was commissioned by Ink Carts, a tattoo studio known for their pop-ups and custom flash tattoos at festivals and events, to create a short animation promoting their appearance at the Snow Machine Festival in New Zealand.
For this event, they planned to set up a booth on top of a mountain, offering tattoos throughout the entire festival. The goal for this animation was to grab attention on social media and build excitement around the event.

The Concept
Inspired by Ink Carts’ unique festival setup, a tattoo booth on top of a snowy mountain, I built a playful narrative around it: We follow our main character, a festival-goer, through different experiences, showcasing key elements of the Snow Machine Festival: music, snowboarding, and of course, tattoos. With a runtime of just 10–15 seconds, the goal was to deliver a quick and fun teaser of the event. I focused on a clear storyline with smooth transitions and engaging visuals.

Colour and Character Design
When developing the characters, I knew they needed to be friendly and approachable, cute but not childlike. The goal was for viewers to relate to them or imagine themselves in the story, so I kept the design gender-neutral with soft, expressive features. The colour palette is vibrant, incorporating lilac tones from the Snow Machine Festival and greens from Ink Carts’ branding.
